Inspirée par la présence d’une représentation sculptée d’un colossal Vishnou en bronze au Musée Guimet des arts asiatiques à Paris, l’artiste a parcouru de nombreuses fois l’étendue de cette sculpture du dieu allongé afin de réaliser son dessin dans la galerie espace temps : dans cette performance de longue durée, c’est le temps qui se déploie dans l’espace. C’est sur une grande feuille de papier accrochée horizontalement au mur que Zhao Duan trace d’un seul trait mais successivement avec des crayons de couleurs différentes la silhouette du géant qui évoque le mythe de la création du monde. En partant toujours des coloris foncés et virant progressivement aux nuances plus claires, peu à peu cette seule ligne devient non seulement forme mais même surface.

受巴黎吉美亚洲艺术博物馆中一尊巨型毗湿奴青铜卧像的启发，艺术家在espace temps完成了这件绘画作品。在这场持续时间较长的行为中，时间在空间中展开。赵端将一张大型画纸横向订在墙面上，以单一但不断更换颜色的彩色铅笔线条，逐步勾勒出这位象征宇宙创世神话的巨人轮廓。线条始终从深色起笔，逐渐过渡至更浅的色调，这条唯一的线不仅生成了形像，最终发展成面。

Inspired by a colossal bronze sculpture of Vishnu in the Musée Guimet des arts asiatiques in Paris, the artist walked the length and breadth of the sculpture of the reclining god many times before creating her drawing in the espace temps gallery: in this long-term performance, time unfolds in space. On a large sheet of paper hung horizontally on the wall, Zhao Duan draws the silhouette of the giant, evoking the myth of the creation of the world, in a single stroke but successively with different coloured pencils. Always starting with dark colours and gradually shifting to lighter shades, the same line gradually becomes not just a shape but a surface.
